Traditional Irish
Irish traditional music is thriving in New York City. Nowhere else in North America can boast such a wealth of Irish fiddlers, pipers, flute players and accordionists. Nowhere else can a visitor find so many places to listen to the dance tunes and songs of the “aul sod.”

Celtic Rock/Hip Hop
Local heros Black 47 have being blazing a trail for bands wishing to blend rock with traditional Irish sounds. Mixing brass sections and uilleann pipes backed by hard driving rock and roll, they have made this unique sound their own. Since their now legendary gigs at Paddy Reilly’s in the early ’90, Larry Kirwin and the boys have built up a loyal following in the tri-state area and through out the country. When in town they mostly play Connelly’s on W 45th St.
The Prodigals are another local out fit who play high energy kick ass celtic rock with a passion. Not for the faint hearted! They call Paddy Reilly’s home when back from their heavy tour schedule.
Seanachi and the Unity Squad have pushed the envelope even further with their fusion of rap, reggae, hip-hop and the haunting sounds of the uilleann pipes played by front man Chris Byrne. His duets with fellow member Rachel Fitzgerald are a show high light. They have a residency at Rocky Sullivan’s every Friday night.
